The rest was in the other trailers. That Marlene one was as well, though. The quality of the HD really shows off how much effort they put into getting even minute details in higher quality. The Midgar bombing scene being included made me jump. Seeing a run through on the content introduced in Before Crisis is gonna be excellent, and help tie all the story elements together.

Also, Cloud totally initiates the original Omnislash when he gets that blue aura and starts sword-comboing Sephiroth. Thank you guys so much! And not just for the this video, but for all the translations too. You guys just made my day. The first part from the book made me happy to hear it instead of read it, and the part with Cloud and Marlene almost made me cry it was so cute since you never see Cloud and Marlene together!

And the part with Sephiroth still gets me hyped up! I want that song so BAD! It sounds a lot better than Calling. Data protection Your email address will not be published. Yuffie and Deepground and Textures, Oh My! February 26, I have a vague idea of the major plot points of FF7, because I read a plot synopsis a few years back. That kept me from being totally confused, but this game is clearly aimed squarely at FF7 fans and anyone else is on their own. That being said, this is still a pretty entertaining movie. The animation is amazing, with characters looking so close to alive it's almost disturbing.

And unlike the previous FF movie, Spirits Within, this one offers the sort of stunning set pieces that distinguish a lot of FF games. And while the movie doesn't tell you who people are, it also doesn't give you much time to ponder it. This is a wall-to-wall action movie with spectacular battles. I'd say the movie is 70 to 80 percent combat. This is a little surprising, since the games themselves tend to have a lot of plot, but apparently the goal here was to create some of those incredible Final Fantasy cut scenes but not worry a lot about the emotional elements.

Although I feel if you know and care about the characters from the game you probably will find parts of it quite effecting. I am a great fan of science fiction, including comics. I had great expectations from this film, having heard about the fabulous graphics and knowing that it has a large base of fans. All the good news about graphics were confirmed, but unfortunately this is not enough to make for a good movie, not even for an action or science fiction one.

Yes, graphics are amazing, they have style and continuity. I also liked the music, powerful and in tune with what was happening on the screen. The story was however very thin, the characters suffered of lack of development, and despite the fact that a lot of time is spent explaining the history and premises of the action, the overall action is still confusing.

None of the characters succeeds to generate any emotion and the movie is as deprived of soul as a computer game. An amazing piece of visual art, but just an average minus movie. Well, after seeing too many awful movies based on video games to count, I finally struck gold with what many people consider to be the best of its kind. I admit to not being a fan of the "Final Fantasy" series, but know enough about popular culture to know about what many people consider to be the best in the whole series "Final Fantasy VII".

The FF series themselves have little to do with each other, so it's easy for anyone to learn about them individually. But I'm getting off topic. This is a great movie for really anybody. It was weird to see a CGI film from Japan. While their games have made the transition to CGI, their animated films haven't. I guess that's just their business. This of course has great animation. I was expecting a lot of this to just be Sephiroth appearing and fighting Cloud, but was quite surprised to have other characters appear as the main villains and Sephiroth only appears near the end.

The voices are great, especially Sephiroth's. It has a solid story with the opening narration even telling us everything that's already happened so that everyone can understand it. It was great to hear the source of that great music. Irishchatter 22 November I can't say how much impressed I am to have seen this year's later.

The reason was because, it very much is like the games even though I never experienced playing the games before. However what I like about this movie was it makes you definitely want to play the games if you have never heard of them before during your childhood. The details on the faces of the characters looked so real that I thought they were real life actors, not 3-D! I thought everything was great about the movie but the storyline was tricky to understand as I don't know most of the characters and haven't played the games so I was a little lost but that didn't stop me from watching the whole movie.

I found it was very enjoyable and I loved the action involved, it pretty much is incredible! Very incredible film indeed! It has excellent design, cool fight scenes and lifelike animation. Very impressive for the time period. However, the plot is so muddled that I could not get invested. Who exactly is each character? How are they related? Where does everything take place? What parts are flashbacks and which are present?

There actually is a real story underneath the chaotic action but you wouldn't be able to tell because of how messily it was presented.

A manga style film. The archetype is there. The world in ruins. A society reduced to some erratic mass movements of fear or violence. Some young people, men and women, identified as the children of a mythic father and mother are divided between the group of those who control the masses and this ruinous world, and on the other hand the group of those who are rebelling and claiming to conquer some kind of future.

And that's where the archetype comes into play. This future is identified to going back to what the past splendor of this world was, to rebuilding the city that history has destroyed. It is systematically the nostalgic rebuilding of a past glory that used to be the realm of the parents, or maybe grand parents, ancestors for sure. But we are obliged to doubt all that nostalgic back tripping good intentional apocalypse. It is a myth to believe history can move back. It is a myth to believe the younger generation who has hardly known the past will want to go back to it.

It is a myth to believe a world of advanced technology, cell phones among many others, will be able to regress to an ancient time when there could not be any of these brilliant inventions.

It is a myth to believe these brilliant inventions could only be associated with ruins, chaos, apocalyptic events and results. No, cell phones and portable Internet-connected computers are not the lipstick and the make-up of Babylon, that lost woman dressed in blood red cloth that Saint John executes in his Book of Revelation, along with the Dragon and then the Beast.

Too Judeo Christian to be serious. So many things are wrong with this film. Firstly the most prominent factor regarding your enjoyment of the movie hangs on if you've ever played Final Fantasy VII and enjoyed it , so for those who have never played the game I highly recommend that you do not watch this film as you'll most likely have absolutely no clue what's going on. That being said, even as a huge fan of the game I had difficulty following what was happening a lot of the time due to the films rather messy and barely existent plot.

The whole thing seemed like an excuse for a bunch of characters to beat the living crap out of each other for 15 minutes at a time, and while each fight sequence looks awesome literally nothing else of relevance takes place.

Oh gloriousness and gorgeosity! Absolutely breathtaking! Granted, the story seems like it's building up to something as complex as the video game, and then ends it quite simply in set-pieces and an almost unending battle sequence. Don't care. It was beautiful to look at and I just couldn't look away. Even Pixar could learn from this. Some people have a problem with the editing and quick cuts. Indeed, sometimes they're distracting, and with the detail that's in this movie, sometimes you want to just pause it just to take in everything that's in the frame.

However, you get used to the editing really quickly and in a way it's kind of nice that the movie doesn't stop just to say, "LOOK! LOOK what we've done! I was worried that I would have forgotten enough of Final Fantasy VII that the plot wouldn't make any sense it's been, like, six years since I played that game, and my computer broke down so I never finished it. It's not too bad getting back into the swing of things. I'm not entirely sure people unfamiliar with the game will know what's going on, especially with all of the scenes that involve the late Aeris.

So honestly, this is one for the fans and for the animation geeks. When it came to its fantastic CG animation, I thought that FF7's attention to detail was ridiculous to the extreme. The fact that I could literally count if I really wanted to every single hair on the heads of every character didn't interest me at all. It only distracted my concentration away from the story and this, in turn, began to annoy me like you wouldn't believe.

Not only that, but, I really began to resent the fact that not one of the main characters in the story seemed to be over the age of And, what's worse, I couldn't tell the males from the females. It was only when one of them actually spoke that I realized "she" was in reality just another little, frail-looking pretty-boy.

On top of that, I also had a lot of trouble trying to distinguish the bad guys from the heroes. From where I was sitting, they all appeared to me to be a cloned bunch of belligerent, confrontational delinquents with pretty hair.

What there was of FF7's story-line amounted to being basically nothing more than a big, black hole. Like a non-interactive video game, FF7 was just a sheer overload of non-stop violence where the characters were all quite capable of performing one gravity-defying stunt after another.

And, finally - Far too often this film's violence which seemed to entail no blood-letting was shot at rapid-fire speed from multiple angles. At first this fast-paced approach was something of a novelty, but, before long, its overall effect left me with the "dizzies". MissSimonetta 23 February Final Fantasy VII is one of the most beloved games of all time and one of the most compelling in terms of its narrative. Its story touches upon the themes of the grand epics: love, war, death, family, and courage.

The characters all possess depth; by the end of the game, you feel as though they're people you've known for years. The ending was perfect in its ambiguity, which is why I was initially hesitant to approach Advent Children. Now having seen the movie, I know I should have been apprehensive for different reasons: it's a soulless cash grab. I do feel like there was a good story in the basic material, touching on Cloud's estranged relationship with his friends and makeshift family with Tifa and Marlene, as well as his lingering guilt over the death of Aerith.

The big issue is that the filmmakers don't care about these things; the whole movie is about propelling us to the next action sequence and re-introducing characters you liked in the game in flashy scenes designed purely for fan service. The new characters are all bland, basically a joke.

The story and characters are pushed aside, an excuse to show off the animation which has not aged well and have Cloud acting cool for the sake of it. Dz Top 20 Flicks aS! Dz Worst 20 Flicks.
