Please have your activation code ready before removing your current version. After downloading and installing the new version 1. Editor Note: This download link only update version. For download this software you need go to Nikon website register is require. WinSite specialty archive. WinSite info center. I've never been a big fan of complicated DRM systems, and I'm not sure that they actually work to prevent real theft of software any better than loose or no systems do.
I keep reading about this kind of problem here, and it seems that even though you might at one stage thought you bought a real product, you have actually got a fake copy. It is a known problem and the problem is not Nikon's, but the supplier of your key. Contact them and see what you get for answer. If you, however have the original CD with the key supplied by Nikon, than you should of course contact them.
You can also call Nikon and get your key problem verified in one way or the other. The fact that you managed to upgrade before says nothing else than Nikon did not check your license before. Malcolm Muggeridge.
This isn't it, I've seen this happening to people who own boxed CD versions of the software. Somewhere Nikon have a limit to the number of times your software can be activated. I don't know what this limit is, I think I've activated mine 7 times but it could be 8 and my copy is working fine. It has happened to me twice and both times I completely uninstalled capture nx2 followed by running the nikon regcleaner file for NX2 its on the nikon site somewhere.
I allways study each new version as I have a D ,and often new versions are only launched to support other cameras or fixes that do not relate to my camera. It has to be something to do with me owning it for a long time and keeping it updated. I have used it since V4. Or maybe when I rebuilt my PC it must have added an activation. Whatever it is is ridiculous. You should not be treated this way if you are a valid paying customer.
The online thing certainly explains the failure of the restore point to correct the problem. Well I didn't get the same treatment with my call. After all they were both registered with them and have been for a long time which they also verified. NX2 was even purchased from the Nikon Mall. I offered to give them my sales order number but that was not needed. I was asked to capture some system info and screen shots of the actual errors and they would look into whats wrong.
If I was anyone out there I would hold off installing 2. I still have no response today from support and I don't know when I will. Until then I am dead in the water. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. As an interim, could you uninstall, reinstall and use it under the 30 or 60 day trial offer.
This should keep you going until things get fixed. Tried that already and there is no way once you have installed CNX2 to reinstall it in a trial mode. I just have to wait for Nikon to fix it. Guessing it will be Monday before I hear anything if then. Last week I received my "factory copy in the box of CNX 2. The seal was unbroken and included in the case along with the cd was the product key. Upon installation an error message popped up. After a few more installation attempts, Nikon cust.
It worked and performed fine. That scenario occurred last Friday, the 22nd of October and version 2. Saw this post yesterday. Went to Nikon site, yesterday, downloaded NX2. Installed on an old XP laptop. No problems. I have a newer Win7 desktop with NX2 on it, but haven't tried that update.
I usually keep all my software updated mainly because there are often minor bug and other improvements that aren't specified in the details of the update. This action by Nikon doesn't encourage me to buying their software in the future.
I don't use NX2 very often now, and if this is the sort of thing that happens then I doubt I'll upgrade to NX3 when it appears. Software piracy is their problem, they shouldn't make it mine. Any action against software piracy that nocks the legal user out is just a disgrace. Forum Parent First Previous Next. Color scheme? You may also like.
