Joined Sep 30, Messages 3. Installation was successful. But on restart , it does not reboot at all. Need to go to to last setpoint to to start computer. I really annoyed with this. Any experience share or help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. TerryNet Terry. Joined Mar 23, Messages 81, How much RAM do you have? Maybe the installation wasn't all that successful. After rebooting try the installation again.
Thnaks for your rresponse. I have 2GB ram. Setup was successful with final screen displayed as shown on website. You can also try a scan with SuperAntiSpyware and see if that will find anything. Unfortunately, the new types of rootkits are very well hidden most of the time. You can get the program from here.
Here is a free on demand antimalware scanner. It is safe to use on demand with your Norton product. Hi floplot, no at present there's no other security software installed on that box. Prior to trying to get N installed I had Kaspersky Antivirus on it, fully up to date and patched, no problems. I uninstalled that using the uninstaller prior to attempting to install N With regards to Malwarebytes, no I didn't specifically run it as an Admin though the user ID being used at the time was an Admin.
I don't understand what you mean by "unblock the exe"? Yes, I did run a full scan using the free version - it took about an hour and a half to run, with no problems found. I'll have to try the other spyware scanner another time as I can't get on the machine again now. When I do I'll post the log file. Presumably I'll have to force this to run as an Admin when I try it? I have no problem opening command prompt, rededit or task manager. Thanks for your help!
Please also use the Kaspersky removal tool. Most antivirus programs go deep into the operating system and are difficult to remove completely. I would suggest that you also use the removal tool a few times and reboot after each use of it.

I've decided that I'm going to give up trying to get installed - I've downloaded and successfully installed a trial of Norton Antivirus instead - I'm going to give that a go for a month and see how we get on with that instead.
