An extremely entertaining handful of sports themed mini games with just a few duffers to be found amongst their number, Olympic Games Tokyo - The Official Video Game distils the longest running athletic spectacle on the planet into a great party game with charming visuals and immediate accessibility. Overall, SEGA's multi-event title works and will provide decidedly pleasant afternoons and evenings to enjoy as a family in pursuit of the Olympic dream.
I've yet to take the game online so I can't comment on how it performs there, but locally Tokyo is a blast in co-op or played competitively. Whether it's table tennis or boxing, beach volleyball or the FIFA-lite football mode, controls are mostly well explained and fairly intuitive outside of a handful of select events swimming, for example, is a test of precise timing and controller dexterity.
Whether you're a seasoned gamer or not, you will find something here that you will come to really love, playing alongside someone else in a same-sofa scenario. The huge range of outfits available to unlock gives completionists a reason to keep going back, but most players will find this best enjoyed in short bursts.
Taken for what it is, Tokyo works well enough to carve a niche for itself as a surprisingly fun and easy to pick-up multiplayer game for families and parties. It can be fun with friends, but the lack of depth makes the game feel dull and boring way sooner than it should.

The downside is the It's a fun enough game, reminiscent of Wii Sports back in the day, the single-player is fun across most of the sports. The downside is the online mode. I have great wired in connection and the lag is unreal as the game tries to sync servers from all over the world. This would be less of a problem if so many of the games weren't rhythm action games.
The timing is so precise, the fractions knock you off the timing. I had one successful no lag play when all of the other players were automated, but even one player from a different time zone skews terribly into unplayable lag.

I have not watched any trailers yet But when I played it, it was a cartoony game like like Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games with the power moves and all.
Since Sega also developed Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games, they decided to cheap out and use the same gameplay on the existing games, and they didn't even add all the Olympic games! Why call it an official Olympic video game if all the games aren't there? But anyway, the new games aren't that good either except Baseball.
Basketball is rigged because the AI just spams the dumb power moves. You can't even turn them off! Overall, this game is just a lazy reskin of Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games with less content. When I heard this game was in development I was very excited as the London game was a very good game so my anticipation was high.
I saw this game on ps now and took what I thought was a great deal but I was very wrong.
