As though adding beads to a string, players create a search by entering one search term at a time, separated by a space, but in no particular order. Even though these lessons are geared toward ninth graders, they can easily be modified to suit students in grades seven through Reed Business Information. This can save a lot of valuable teaching time and reduce frustration for the students. I am looking forward to sharing the information about WebQuests with teachers in the fall.

I think that quite a few teachers in my building would love using this format for lessons. The junior high students love working on the laptops, so just being able to complete a lesson online can be a great motivator. Subscribe Free Add to my Page. Reflection Week Three. Creating a podcast was a highlight of this week for me.

I was surprised how easy it was to create a podcast by phone. This is something I am going to encourage my daughter to do with my granddaughter. They are moving to Seattle and I am going to miss hearing her voice. At school, I will be looking into using podcasts. I would like to add a podcast to the library homepage, perhaps with quarterly library news updates or information like tips on using the online databases.

The article "Personal Broadcasting: Applications in Higher Education" mentions the use of podcasts for foreign language instruction. I will definitely mention this to the Chinese teacher at my school.

For the Instructional Design course I am taking, Dr. Ingram uses podcasts to respond to student assignments. I think that there would be many applications at the college level. Although I currently work with Junior high students, I feel that it is important to introduce them to things they may run across later in college or their jobs.

I also enjoyed creating the newsletter. I have created newsletters before, but this time I really played around with adding photos from Microsoft Publisher, moving things around, linking text boxes and many other features. The topic of my newsletter is a guide to copyright for teachers. In my past year working in a junior high school library, I have found that teachers are frequently too busy to really look into copyright law. Frequently, teachers violate copyright law thinking that it is OK if it is done for the good of their students.

I hope to use the newsletter I have created as a link on the school homepage so that teachers can access it as an easy reference when they have copyright questions, particularly those pertaining to technology.

I plan to use the newsletter format I now have and come up with a regular library newsletter with information that would be helpful to students , teachers and parents. Way back in my elementary education courses, I remember learning about disequilibrium and that it must be present in order for learning to occur.

I have been in a state of disequilibrium since the first day of this class! Although I feel that my experience with technology has been pretty varied, I have not had the opportunity to use or create wikis or blogs. I am excited about having the opportunity to use both and determine how they could be applied in my current position as a Junior High School Library Media Specialist. Previous Page Next Page ».
