Something happened was implemented because I am having this issue since as well. Same issue here and am glad to see someone mentioning it here. I too thought it might be a misbehaving addon but the issue persists with addons disabled. Please be aware disabling addons in the menu will not prevent them from using resources. You would need to rename the folders it pulls them from to accomplish this. Run a security scan to remove any viruses or malware infections.
